Sometimes things change unexpectedly, and you just have to adjust to these changes. Well, St. Paul Travelers (my employer) decided to begin blocking access to SpyMac, where I began blogging about one month ago to pass time during the slow days at work. No more could I update my blog there from work, or could I read the comments of other users at the site. What to do? Blogging is one of the only ways I have to get through those long days. That is why you find me here on blogger.com. For some reason SPT does not block blogger dot com, but it blocks spymac dot com. Explain that one to me!
Seriously though, I have been thinking a lot of this whole thing, after my friend Rachel made fun of this whole blogging community. She doesn’t get how people can sit in front of their computer’s and just write diary entries all day. I explained to her that, most of these people, like me, have a lot of down time at work, so what do they do, but share there wisdom with the world.
The hard part I have w/ blogs, is that if I want to post these things publicly, I have to moderate what I say about my life. There are just some things in my life that belong private, but I want to talk about them. I realize though that if I blog ‘em then anyone can read what I say, and I can see that just messing up my life. Watch as I struggle with that through my blogging journey.
Anyhow, I leave for Israel on Sunday for 16 days. That means that six days from now I will be on my way to my “other” home to experience one of the most historically rich and beautiful countries and the world. I have butterflies in my stomach because of the excitement I have to go again. Plus, the added bonus of going with my best friend from college, Yaniv, who is a Israeli citizen. He will be my expert guide to fun on this trip. This trip will not be all fun, as I have elected to going on an advocacy training program to keep the trip cost down to $600. Through Hasbara Fellowships I will be immersed in training and application of advocating for a proper peace in Israel. It should be excellent.
Well I am going to see if they need me to do some work. But I will be back again.
