Here it is, the end of 2004 fast approaching. Within 4 days it will be a new year, with new opportunities and new chances for change and growth. A lot has developed so far in the past year as I continue to figure out life and plan what I want to do with it. After completing my final six months of co-op to fill my graduation requirement, I am now back to being a RIT undergrad student. If all goes well, by November 2005, I will be completed with my undergraduate work, and hopefully entering grad school (still at RIT). That should take about one year, and then it will be time to enter the real world. Not really sure where I am going at that point, but I have some ideas.

Anyhow, there are exciting things going on now that I am back at college. Hillel is off to a great start with an excellent Chanukah series of events, with more exciting events coming up in January. A successful wine tasting event before break capped off our short 3 week stay at RIT between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will enter the new year with great momentum and solid planning for another five months.

In academics, things are really beginning to get exciting. In my Human-Computer Interaction class, I have the opportunity to develop a great application. As I have mentioned in previous posts, I have always had a desire to help those in need. The quarter long project for HCI is finally giving me that chance. Along with two partners, Zack and Tim, my group will develop a e-mail client for people with muscular handicaps. This includes diseases such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and other similar handicaps. Our plan is to have a portable, easy to use application that fulfills some key requirements for our client base. There will be a few users I know to perform real-world heuristic analysis on during our development to see how well our program works with their constraints. Our group will probably develop some sort of log of our progress that I will eventually post online.

Otherwise, things couldn’t be better. My new townhouse is perfect for the next two years of my stay in Rochester. It’s fully carpeted, clean, and roomy. My bedroom is 15′ x 13′, more size than anybody could ask for. Yaniv, my roommate provides constant company and entertainment, as well as a best friend to confide in. Things are flowing smoothly at school socially, and I am so ecstatic to be back.

Break has been really nice, I have gotten to see a lot of people that I haven’t seen in awhile. I also have worked back at Travelers while I have been home, putting a few bills in the pocket. The money will go right to pay for my skis…but, hey it’s better than carrying that bill for awhile.

Happy new year and see you in 2005, if I don’t update this before.
