I am a recent graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology (March 2006). For four months after that, I had free time to gather my life together and prepare for the real world. On July 17th, 2006 I began my adventure into corporate America.
That being said, I am a full-time employee of The Travelers, one of the largest commercial and personal insurance companies in the United States. Based in Hartford, CT, the Travelers was one of the first insurance companies, forming in 1864. I am a part of the Information Technology Leadership Development Program, a four to five year management fast-track opportunity. Every 8-12 months I rotate through various aspects of the insurance business, taking on different roles within their Information Technology units.
My current rotation is in Commercial Systems – National Accounts as an Applications Developer working on a product we sell to our largest clients (premiums upwards of $1 million). I am developing in .NET, as well as Legacy ASP/VB code. Also, I am exposed to work in Microsoft SQL Server and other development tools.
In my spare time I continue to practice tae kwon do, a Korean martial art which I started at age 10 and achieved my 1st Degree black belt one week after graduating from high school. I am also an avid cyclist and mountain biker, taking care of my Specialized Allez and Trek 6500. In the past two years I have started to run regularly, participating in multiple 5K races throughout Connecticut and Rochester, NY.
I also teach Sunday School to Jewish high school students at the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford, CT. This gives me the opportunity to educate the students about such topics as Jews in America, the creation of the State of Israel, as well as current events related to the State of Israel and Jews here in the U.S. of A
When my full-time job doesn’t totally exhaust me, I continue to do web development for various non-profit and for-profit organizations. I am currently developing a portfolio of my work that will be posted here as well.
